Sugar Kisses? I really didn’t taste any sugar. In my opinion, a good bakery consist of 50% atmosphere and 50% taste. If you can master those two things, your on to something. When I walk into a bakery, I want to feel like Holly GoLightly in Tiffany’s. Like nothing bad can happen and all of my dreams can come true. And that begins with the lighting and the case. Sugar Kisses’ lighting — dim, case — deplorable. The case is supposed to sing to you, this case kind of just frowned at me. On top of that, I knew this was not a completely vegan bakery, but I truly thought there would be more vegan options. There were only a few cupcakes and cookies to choose from, and since I love apples I just went with the Apple Spice Cupcake. It was not good. Dry, hardly any apples, and the Buttercream tasted like some type of hardened cool whip. I could also taste the granulated sugar in the Buttercream, which meant the sugar just was not “powdered” enough. I like the culprit behind the driness, was the coolness of the display case. Dried it right out! Either that, or the cupcake was just old. I don’t plan on going back to Sugar Kisses. $3. 00 + 40 minute drive for a dry, flavorless cupcake?! Not my idea of a good Sweet Vegan treat. I give this bakery a 1 out of 5 V’s. 1 V just for merely existing.
