I think she should spend less time opposing vegetarians, we aren’t the problem. She’s just making money by being divisive and sectarian while we should all be focusing our energies on transforming the overall global food system.

  2. roserh6 says:

I am a vegetarian and I think everything that Leirre Kieth says is absolutely correct, but it is a giant red herring and she knows it. Her entire criticism of vegetarianism is based on the quite obvious fact that we still live in an exploitative system. I am not a moral vegetarian, I am simply boycotting the factory farm industry which she rails against. It just so happens that most of our meat is produced in this manner. I would eat sustainable meat if I could.

Giving poor counties cheap food will not get them out of the slump they are in its the age old saying give a man a fish or teach a man to fish. Giving them food will only devastate the people in that area that are still making a living by selling food which will create even more hungry people. This will push them even deeper into economic crises making them even more depended on the ones giving them the food. She doesnt want other countries to become enslaved to America through hunger.

She is not talking about globalization she is talking about monopolies. She never said that we should close ourselves to one another she said we need to be self sufficient while we reach out to each other because when dependence becomes a way of life it is very hard to undo.

  5. Boolze says:

So, the problem is capitalism, and more specifically, the monetary system. Switching to a resource-based economy and sorting out the logistics of food distribution means that vegetarianism “wins” when it comes to feeding everyone and doing so sustainably.

  6. wavepsychic says:

I think you are right. However IF the demand for meat does not go down and people do not become vegetarian then the demand for the factory forms and the cheap grains too feed them will persist. There power is money.

I wonder how horses get all their nutrients from grass and don’t have problems in the joint, spine or in the anus.

  8. dingle1492 says:

no she’s not blaming the vegans and vegetarians. she is simply trying to paraphrase a very complex idea from her book about the economic situation we find ourselves in, and that being a vegetarian or vegan is not the way to the change that situation for the better.

  9. healthyurbankitchen says:

vegetarians eat crap processed foods esp grains and highly processed corporate foods all the time – go to any health food store in the US

  10. calciferILY says:

WTF? This girl wrote a book about the bad things about vegetarianism? ….She must have a VERY exciting life.
And she also thinks all vegetarians have the same opinion about everything. D:

  11. toneuteriscuter says:

This is ridiculous. She is blaming grain cartels, Walmart and our(U.S.) shitty trade policies on vegetarians.
It is grain cartels, Walmart and the U.S’s shitty trade policies that are to blame, not vegetarians, who do their best to boycott and stall shitty companies and policies like those.

  12. spbroy says:

does baking vegetables strip it of all it’s nutrients?

  13. shannonsurreal says:

America should get out those countries.
I never thought of that way. America is corupt. When the government and food industries get their “just desserts” I hope we don’t pay for it. But knowing america we just might.

  14. x1v20 says:

You believe countries should be self sufficient, that globalization is a bad thing, but when we look at a country like North Korea which completely isolates itself from the outside world we see much suffering.

The belief that globalization destroys local economies is based on the idea that economies cannot evolve, that people cannot be retrained for other jobs than what they grew up doing. Globalization encourages competition, and is actually better for the third world in my opinion.

  21. ProjectLbL says:

”80%of corn grown in USA is eaten by livestock. 95% of oats grown in USA is eaten by livestock. 260 million acres of U.S forest are cleared for cropland to produce a meat based diet. 660,000 number of animals killed for meat per hour in the USA. 40,000 lbs of potatoes are grown on an acre. 250 lbs of beef are produced on an acre. 56% of U.S farmland is devoted to beef production. 16lbs of grain and soybeans are required to produce 1 lbs of beef. ” THIS CRAZY VEGAN LIFE book

  22. EveryoneLovesBlondes says:

“Nothing will benefit human health and increase chances for survival of life on Earth as much as the evolution to a vegetarian diet.”… Albert Einstein said that.

  23. muchlove59 says:

Why doesn’t the governement crack down on those greed orientated cartels? Seems retarded to let them screw around the economy like that

  24. belovedideas says:

Thanks for this. I’m often hassled by vegans for my meat eating and raw-milk drinking habits. Now I have real arguments as to why THEIR arguments are wrong!

  25. RawRebuild says:

Great information/transformation. I have been consuming raw wild and grass-fed meats/fats in addition to green juices and wild fruits for at least 4 years.

Adding raw fats and meat from animal origin has the potentiality to take your health to an efficient level of greater clarity, stability, energy, availability and service. Vitality is sacred, and more so when we honor the sacrifices inherent with human bodily existence.

Indigenous peoples honored the wild spirit of animals and so can we.
